General

Light coloured laminating resins, free from synthetic phenol. Resistant to saltwater, freshwater and oil. Do not suffer white discolouration when applied beneath GRAF EPOXY GELCOATS or GRAF EPOXY TOP COATS.

Due to the resin's low viscosity several layers of fibre (up to 400g/m2) may be laminated at once. The excellent adhesion and laminating power in sandwich constructions made from wood and other material enables very light weight constructions to be made with a high breakage strength. The glue will cure in temperatures down to 5C (by using the hardeners BT 300 or HT 300 B).
Applications

Lamination.

GRAF RESIN HT 300 together with one of the above mentioned hardeners can be used as a lamination glue, as well as an injection resin for vacuum processing. When combined with GRAF EPOXY GELCOATS the product is well suited to the manufacture of high quality sporting goods, ships, boats, cars, etc. The epoxy hardeners GRAF RESIN K 306 and GRAF RESIN K 209 are the best choice for large jobs due to their long potlife.

Repairs

Osmosis repairs can be undertaken with this resin, usually in combination with GRAFFILL PUTTY, GRAF EPOXY GELCOATS and GRAF EPOXY TOP COATS.

Gluing Wood

Mix GRAF RESIN HT 300 together with the chosen hardener, and apply by brush to both surfaces. Allow the resin to soak into the wood and leave to cure for some hours. For wood gluing it can help to add about 5% by weight of BALOO-CELL. Then mix more (usually with a filler such as BALOO-CELL) and apply with a spatula to both surfaces and bring the surfaces together and compress it. After the glue has cured the bond will be very strong, usually stronger than the surrounding wood. The resin is a very good glue and will join other materials as well. For example, under the right conditions wood can be stuck to aluminium. Laminates made from GRAF RESIN HT 300 remain machineable.

GRAF RESIN HT 300 is not UV-resistant. The surface of the resin is not self levelling; brush strokes, spatula swipes, etc. will remain visible after curing. The greasy film that is sometimes left on the surface can be cleaned off with soapy water.

For Top coats we recommend the use of GRAF RESIN HT 126 and GRAF EPOXY TOP COATS. These resins are UV-resistant and leave a level and glossy surface. Inside moulds we recommend using GRAF EPOXY GELCOATS.

Physiology

Due to its low vapour pressure, this epoxy resin is safe to handle if the usual precautions are observed. GRAF RESIN HT 300 is irritating to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. The hardeners GRAF RESIN BT 300, HT 300 B, HT 301 B, K 306 and K 209 all contain aliphatic amines and hence are corrosive to skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Hence, it is recommended that safety goggles and gloves should be worn. Ensure good ventilation in the work place. In case of skin contact wash well with soap and water. Protective skin creams are recommended. In case of eye contact wash well with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice. Our products are free from other toxic substances such as phenol, phenolic diluents and aromatic amines. The relevant professional instructions for the use of epoxy resins must be followed.

Storage

Store under dry conditions away from water and carbonic acid. The temperature must not be allowed to fall below 15. If these conditions are observed then the product will remain good for at least one year in closed cans.
